Undulator move parameters

See feluc for more general information on undulator.

Nominal value for velocity -> Vel(mm/s) 0.300

This can be changed, but due to resonances, not all values work well.
FAST 0.600 and 0.900 are good
SLOW 0.01, 0.02 and 0.06 are good
0.03, 0.04 and 0.05 are not good

Upgrade FEL 2 cavity section 2022

File:FEL2 CAD overview.pdf 3D CAD image of FEL2 upgraded section

In the spring of 2022 a new undulator was placed that changed the range of FEL2 to 3 µm to 29 µm. The undulator was built in collaboration with the Fritz Haber Institute in Berlin. To fit the new undulator the entire last section of the FEL2 line was upgraded. Amongst it were 2 large granite blocks to improve the stability of the cavity mirrors, adding additional pumping capacity, rotating the collimator 90 degrees and new vacuum tubing system. Technical information can be found at \\felixdisk\ffg4\FEL2 UPGRADE 2020, and all CAD drawings are located at \\felixdisk\ffg4\3D CAD Data.

FEL 2 Undulator Galil Master Reset procedure

If there is no connection to the Galil controller from the FEL2 GUI and the Felix U40 Runner comes up with error messages it could the Galil controller needs a master reset.

Master Reset and Upgrade Jumpers JP1 on the main board contains two jumpers, MRST and UPGRD. The MRST jumper is the Master Reset jumper. When MRST is connected, the controller will perform a master reset upon PC power up or upon the reset input going low. Whenever the controller has a master reset, all programs, arrays, variables, and motion control parameters stored in EEPROM will be ERASED.

After the Master Reset remove the jumper. The MRST jumper can de found at the bottom of the Galil Controller left of the middle (label MRST).

The manual "galil_DMC_4040_manual.pdf" gives more information on page 8 voor the jumper place and page 15 for the Master Reset procedure. I expect the undulator server on feluc needs to be restarted again (firedaemon -> uc_flx_subsys_main -> restart).
